Is Tampa and Tampa Bay the same?

While you may have heard Tampa and Tampa Bay used interchangeably, there's just a little different you should know — Tampa is the biggest city in the greater metropolitan area of Tampa Bay, and the whole metro area consists of Tampa (Hillsborough County) , St. Petersburg, Clearwater, (Pinellas County) and the four surrounding counties Citrus, Manatee, Sarasota and Polk Counties.

Where is Tampa?

The gorgeous bayside city of Tampa is located in southwest Florida. Bordered by the cities of Clearwater and St. Petersburg to the west and Brandon to the east, Tampa is on the north end of scenic Tampa Bay, which opens into the Gulf of Mexico.
